A bookcase is a piece of furniture with a good intention in the first place, however, its shape enables that is versatile in use as well. The bookcase allows you to show off selected or perhaps overlooked books and give boost to your reading habits. It also serves as a storage shelve or surface. The bookcase is a product designed in the APPLAUSE project, in which the experts in carpentry and local community of The City Municipality of Ljubljana collaborate in joined efforts to solve the issue of invasive alien plants that negatively affect the native flora. Making the dining table from the invasive alien plant wood helps preserving diversity and growth of native plants in their natural environment.
The bookcase consists of 5 shelves made of boards, side slats fastened with wooden pegs, and carrying slats with wooden pegs attached to legs of the bookcase. The dimensions are as follows: height 180 cm, breadth 84 cm and depth 35cm.
